The Hottest Spot in Town: Time Warner Cable’s IntelliGo

Mobile hot spots are the new hot trend in technology. People want to be connected to the Internet wherever they go. Smartphones are able to connect to 3G and 4G networks, but that isn’t enough. The IntelliGo hot spot from Time Warner Cable allows users to connect five Wi-Fi devices at once. The possibility to attach five devices means you can use your laptop, MP3 player, e-reader, portable video game, and still have one device left.

The IntelliGo is a very new product. It’s currently only available in markets with Road Runner Mobile. Those markets include Texas, Hawaii, Kansas City and North Carolina. For those with the service, the device costs $50 after cashing in a $50 mail-in-rebate option and signing up for two years of the service. The IntelliGo also has a monthly price associated with it, but that price shifts by region.

The IntelliGo is compact and weighs very little. Since the device is both 3G and 4G compatible, it first searches for a 4G connection. If it cannot find a 4G signal, it looks for a 3G network and connects to that. Other features of the device include the following aspects:

  • An LCD screen that tells the user how much battery life remains as well as the strength of the connection and whether it is 3G or 4G.
  • A global positioning system built into the device
  • A slot for a MicroSD memory card, which, once attached, allows for up to 16GB of storage on the devices that are connected to the hot spot

The IntelliGo is perfect for people on the go. If you’re not in the supported regions, though, don’t fret. IntelliGo will be coming to your city in the future.
