Facebook is more than just a place for you to keep in touch with classmates, friends and family members. It also provides space for several different types of games of many different genres. Whether you fall in love with a few or a lot, you can use Facebook to while away time spent waiting, on the train, or between classes.

Farmville is one of the most popular games going on Facebook. You can plant crops, build , barns and houses, and raise livestock of nearly every type. Working with friends you choose for your neighbors, you can accomplish additional goals and missions that help you raise cash and expand your real estate. Special items are available during holidays so you can have a Christmas tree in front of your house or fill your yard with spooky Halloween decorations.
Along the same lines as Farmville, Yoville and Frontierville are very similar applications but with a couple of differences. Yoville takes place in the city where you keep a job and decorate your apartment, while Frontierville has you exploring and settling new land. The Frontierville game also allows you to get married, move your spouse out to your new homestead, and start raising a family.

Mafia Wars and Vampire Wars are more like role-playing games. You can buy equipment and clothing for your avatar after completing missions to earn money and abilities. You can work with or compete against your friends, and both applications allow you to form a gang or tribe of people working together.

There are also more traditional games available on Facebook, like Texas Hold ‘Em, Bejeweled Blitz, Scrabble, and the dice game, Farkle. Farkle is very similar to popular children’s game, Yahtzee. A set of six die are rolled. Points are given for certain rolls like single ones, sets of three, and fives. If no points can be scored on a roll, it’s a “Farkle” and the roll ends.
